STORIES

Roy

Roy was enrolled in our school in 2006. Roy’s father had a heart attack and suddenly passed away three years ago. His death caused a great shock to his elder brother Rock, who needs regular professional counseling. Their mother worked cleaning houses for 2 years but is now suffering from health problems, which does not allow her to work. The family moved to live in their grandmother’s and uncle’s house but unfortunately the grandmother passed away last summer. The uncle is trying to support his sister and her two sons, as the mother continually tries to find some help here and there. She desperately wants her two children to continue their education.

Moussa

Moussa is a non-Christian student. He lives with his parents and three brothers (one of them is a half brother). A year ago the father was diagnosed with cancer so he was obliged to leave his job in order to start his chemotherapy. The uncles are trying to support the family but they are complicating the situation: They want to put the children in a non-Christian orphanage but the father refuses because he wants to spend the remaining time he has with his children and wants them to continue their studies in a Christian school.

Micheal

Michael and his family left the South after last summer’s war and came to settle down in Beirut. Michael was registered in NES last academic year. Yet, last winter, the father was diagnosed with cancer and passed away in April 2007. His death came as a shock for the whole family especially that they were far from their hometown and trying to adapt to the city. They found themselves alone. The mother is now suffering from health problems and is not able to work. Micheal’s sister is studying and working to support the family. Their situation is miserable and they were not even able to pay Michael’s tuition last year. They don’t want to put him in an public school because he is a very smart student.

Roy

Four years ago, Roy and his brother Rudy were living a peaceful life with his parents, their father worked as a mechanic to support his family. Two years ago, the father traveled outside the country to look for better career opportunities. He got into a relationship with another woman. He changed his religion, married her and completely neglected his family and two sons.
The family is now living in a one-room apartment; the mother is jobless and is begging to support the family.
Roy and his brother have not been paying their complete tuition fees for 2 years, but they are good students and the mother wants them to continue their studies.
