DESCRIPTION

Jezzine is a picturesque town located on the slopes of Tumat Niha, 22 km from Sidon and 73 km south of Beirut. The town is surrounded by mountain peaks and pine forests at an average altitude of 950 m. The inhabitants of Jezzine are of the Catholic Church (Maronite and Greek Melkite) background. Jezzine suffered tremendously during the many years of war in the south with Israel. For years the town was isolated from all other surrounding villages.

On May 3, 2007 Heart For Lebanon got in touch with an orphanage in Jezzine. The orphanage shelters 25 children, ages 7 to 15. The nun in charge of the place, took us around to have a look at where the children sleep, eat, study and play.

As we were going around we noticed the quality of beds that the children were sleeping on were not in good condition. We asked the nun how can we help the orphanage and she said new comfortable beds would be an answer to prayer.

Therefore without any delay we went to Sidon, a nearby area, and we bought 4 pairs of beds to the orphanage. The nun was so thrilled and didn’t know how to thank us.
