One of H4L’s new ministries consists of offering a support group to the Iraqi women who have suffered immensely from the war and its consequences. The majority of them experienced the loss of a loved one (husbands, fathers, brothers, children, etc) in atrocious ways; some are living with no news of their kidnapped husbands; and others have no contact whatsoever with their families in Iraq. In a nutshell, these women need all the emotional and spiritual support they can get to sustain their families and to be there for the children.
This support group is a monthly activity through which the women will be able to have some worship and prayer time, listen to encouraging messages from the Bible, and hear one another’s testimonies.
The last meeting took place on December 15, 2008; H4L celebrated Christmas with a total of 60 women who listened to a message about the meaning of Christmas, and then enjoyed a Christmas meal with H4L staff. The women were encouraged to put aside their wounds as they put their hope in Jesus especially during this time of year.
