An Iraqi family of parents and three children shared their story of departure from Iraq. The father used to work in an oil company; he was well off and had two houses. This year in April, the 4 year old son had been kidnapped by a terrorist group who asked for a ransom of $7000. After paying the ransom the kidnappers revealed to the family where they could find their 4 year old. He was found alive, in a garbage bin, tied by his hands and feet.
All he remembers from his imprisonment is that the kidnappers didn't feed him milk for a whole week; and that he remembers because his mom used to feed him milk every day.
Later on, the family received death threats, so they fled the country, leaving behind everything they had owned. Although now the family sends their 3 kids to school (tuition covered by a local NGO) they can't afford paying for the bus ride, so the children go everyday on foot, but I wonder how the family would manage that especially now that winter has just started.
We got to know this family more because of the home visits, and we also prayed with them.
We believe that the Lord is able to bring hope and joy for those who ask for it, and this family has asked for it and the Lord has been answering! Praise Him!!!
“See that you do not despise one of these little ones. For I tell you that in heaven their angels always see the face of my Father who is in heaven.” (Matthew 18:10)
