H4L team visited recently an Iraqi refugee widow and her 3 children. Her husband got killed just before Easter this year with the Cheldanean bishop; he was the bishop’s driver. The woman is emotionally in a mess and her children have nightmares almost every night.
When the team was there, they noticed one of the kids asking their mom “When will you take us to the park to play?" and the mom replied "later we would go".
The mom revealed to the team that she can't take them to the park; she barely had money to live by.
The team was touched by that and came back to the office asking if they could take this family out for lunch next week, for they never go out! They can't afford it.
The team took them out for lunch and then to play.
The mom turned at one point to the team leader, and asked her “How did you know it was my son's birthday today?" (The son who keeps nagging about going out to the park) so the team leader who didn't know previously about the birthday called somebody to bring a cake and they celebrated the son's birthday together!
There are many sad stories and many stories to celebrate! But the Lord can turn their sorrows to joy!
