Rmeich is a village located in the south along the UN blue line (that defines the border between Lebanon and Israel). It was not directly bombed during the war period (mid July to mid August 2006) but it endured a lot of tension because they had to provide shelter for 20,000 Christian and Muslim refugees from the nearby villages.
After the war ended the scouts of Rmeich took on the responsibility of caring for the elderly. The scouts own an existing building that they want to turn into an elderly center. The building is equipped with some facilities, a dinning hall for forty people, a small kitchen, and a bathroom.
The purpose of the center is to gather the elderly, help them feel worthy and part of the community rather than lonely outsiders. The aim is to provide them with some meaningful activities that bring joy to their hearts.
The center will daily provide breakfast and lunch, entertainment, different lectures and workshops given by doctors, sociologists and the scouts. In addition to that, they will plan some outings to visit other areas of the country.
The need is to furnish the center and make it suitable for the elderly. For this reason Heart for Lebanon contributed by providing the suitable kitchen equipment used in preparing the meals for the elderly.
